Printed brand cards for e-commerce, gift and retail packaging: packaging insert cards, thank you cards, product information and care cards, warranty cards and business cards. They share one page because the buying decisions are the same: size, card thickness, one or two printed sides, corners or folds, and finish. Playing cards and game cards are a different product and are not covered here, and card-stock boxes are packaging rather than cards. For tags that hang on a product, see the hang tag printing guide; for adhesive pieces, see custom labels and stickers.
This comparison explains options commonly used in the market; it is not a list of what is fixed for your order. Card stock, finish, shape and the final specification for your order are confirmed in the quotation and on samples.
| Packaging insert and thank you cards | Placed in a box, mailer or bag with the product. Size them to the packaging they go into, leaving room to insert and remove the card; the inner size of the box is the starting point. |
|---|---|
| Product information and care cards | Carry usage, care, warranty or a QR code to a web page. Small type and QR codes need to be checked at actual size on a proof. |
| Business cards | Standard business card sizes differ by region so cards fit local wallets and holders. Tell us the size you use; business cards can share stock and finish with your insert cards for a matching set. |
| One or two printed sides | A second printed side adds print work, and each side is quoted by its number of colors and any special finish. A plain or one-color back is a common way to keep cost down. |
| Corners, shapes and folds | Rounded corners and custom shapes are die-cut; folded cards need a score line so the fold is clean. Thicker card makes a fold more noticeable, so folds are checked on a sample. |
| Thickness and finish | Card thickness, coated or uncoated stock, and finishes such as foil, embossing or spot UV are common market options. Which of them suit your card and quantity is confirmed in the quotation; see packaging artwork checklist before you set up files. |
Cards are often packed with a gift box; if you also need the box, see custom luxury gift boxes so the card and box size can be planned together.

Not usually. Business cards follow a regional standard size so they fit wallets and holders, while insert cards are sized to the box or mailer they go into and are often larger. They can share the same card stock and finish if you want a matching set; the specification for each is confirmed in the quotation.
Double-sided printing adds a second printed side, and each side is quoted by its number of colors and any special finish. A plain or one-color back can keep cost down. Tell us the colors on each side and the number of designs.
Keep QR codes large enough, with a clear margin around them and strong contrast, and avoid placing them over textures or foil. Test the printed proof with several phones before mass production, and use a link you can redirect later in case the destination page changes.
Rounded corners and custom shapes are made by die-cutting, and folded cards need a score line so the fold is clean. Thick card and some finishes affect how cleanly a fold or corner turns out, so shape and fold are checked on a sample, and what is available for your order is confirmed in the quotation.
